Over 80% of Queensland area has been affected by the recent flood incident. Parts of north NSW, West VIC and Tassie are also facing some sort of flooding as of today. I have been listening to the Matt and Jo show and watching the news, and few of the stories just break my heart. A 13-year-old boy scarified himself to save his 10-year-old brother; a loving husband choosing to have his wife and kid saved while he is still currently missing etc. Lots of personal belongings are gone, so do homes that people have been spending years to built up.
For those who are fortunate enough, please help by donating to the Queensland Flood Relief, buy coffee from these shops, or buy anything from stores that donate parts of the profit to the relief. With this large scale of damage, it will take at least months to rebuild. I very much hope to contribute by offering cheap photography (engagement, wedding, couple shots, graduation etc) where all profits in Jan to Mar will be donated to the Queensland Flood Relief. Any donation above $2 is tax deductable and receipts will be provided by Red Cross.
Some of the sample pictures I took of a wedding reception:
If interested, please leave a message and I will get back to you asap.
I really really like Mary and Max the movie. It's about story of a girl in Melbourne (in fact just at the backyard in Mount Waverley) and a man in new york, based on a real story. Highly recommended! Watched Avatar and Sherlock Holmes and they were both great. But the one that goes to my fav list is Mary and Max cause it makes you think, of your friends, of things.
Also just to mention about my other two favorite movies: Once and Little Miss Sunshine. I could watch them n times. Not that I don't like blockbusters. I love transformers, matrix, LOTR, pirates of caribbean, die hard, terminator, rambo or comedies like hangover (gosh love it) too =D. I just remember another good one - freedom writer. That really makes you think.
And my favorite favorite chinese movie would be 我左眼见到鬼, I think I still wept on the 3rd time watching it. When I was small I used to watch once upon a time in china (黄飞鸿) again and again. I love all of them.
Mary and Max definitely reminds me of Wallace and Gromit because of the claymation. I love everything about it, esp the auto waking up, wearing clothes, tooth-brushing to breakfast eating part. But I could hardly remember the story to be frank. I might need to rewatch them I guess :p.
I went back to work today and I'm not sure if I should be there. I really want to stay home writing. I really really want to finish writing asap. And then I could have anything i think. I mean I think. I always think everything that I want is approachable. The only lacking ingredient is time. I don't think I need a lot of money to stay happy, or to be happy. I believe not earning sufficient for a living would definitely lead to unhappiness, but too much is the same. It's really an optimisation problem i guess.
Downloaded the soundtrack of (500) Days of Summer and love it! Then proceeded to madly addicted to Carla Bruni.
Here I am trying to scribble on any thoughts on surface normals estimation for Chapter 5, which I have been working backwards after I stopped at Chapter 4. Though I skipped Chapter 2 cause it irritates me.
Don't want to sound emo-ish for the rest of this entry so I shall flashback on some summer colours I collected in past weeks, forgetting the awful hangover the days after. Ok I promise it will be all happy-hippy from here onwards.

Went to the night market in Victoria market last wed. Was freaking hot that day (39deg)!! Amy and I was wondering why we weren't OTing in office instead when we were saunaing at the market. Anyway, food was AWESOME, though it is really 人山人海 (my fav fav 成语 when writing chinese essay on market). I have tons of pics to prove that!
I shall not spend too much time here so I'll stop chui shui-ing now...
Our Spanish seafood rice with potato something. not paella - there are two other paella stalls there though. Side note: Tender Trap at Chaddy is a really good Spanish restaurant. Call in to pre-order squid-ink paella that is not on the menu.
Honey dumplings with sesame seed and icecream. yum!

this Sangria stall has long lines ever since we got there!
Sangria (Spanish: sangría; meaning "bloody") is a wine punch typical of Spain. It normally consists of: a light, dry, young, acidic, unoaked, fruit forward red wine, usually from the province of Rioja in Spain and of the Tempranillo or Grenache varieties; other reds that work well include French wines such as Gamay or Beaujolais, and Italian wines such as Grignolino, Bardolino, Dolcetto, Freisa, or Lambrusco. chopped or sliced fruit (often orange, lemon, apple, peach, berries, pineapple; occasionally melon, grape, or mango) a sweetener such as honey, sugar, simple syrup, orange juice, and/or fruit nectar a small amount of added brandy, triple sec, or other spirits and ice and carbonated soda, in some recipes -wiki
Do try to make your own bambus (red wine with coke 1:1). Easier but is a great recipe when you happen to have bad reds =p.
See those people! Told you it's 人山人海 =p
p/s: Pardon my bad English cause when it's food-related I can become too hyper and my rojak English can 'come' out. Sorry-lah.

My 1st company annual celebration @ Melbourne aquarium =DDD
Was in the same table with Grant and wife, Connie and friend, Joanne, Aileen (which is a russian name! I always thought Aileen is a chinese girl in the office!) and Guy. But was busy eating so only a picture at dessert time with Irena who hopped from another table:
like my short hair? =DDD
I *heart* Irena - she's an exchange student from Germany, and we have been on a 'a word a day' language exchange program: I'll teach her a chinese word a day and she'll teach me a Russian and German word a day (dumrak/dummkopf xp).

leng mum!
i love this picture!
heard that they are on training =D
shark with its ma cai
Do you know that sharks with those scary looking pointy teeth are actually less dangerous than those with hidden teeth? The hidden teeth are flat and can tear your whole limb down if it wishes =p BUT they generally don't attack human... btw, shark has six sense - they can detect electricity. Human blood has lots of electricity and therefore would attract sharks. I once watched a documentary where someone dropped some battery into the ocean, and the sharks played with the battery like mad and ignore the injured victims =p
mum is afraid of stingrays
It's not that scary really... Just don't try to step on it or swim above it. This is because the shadow could scare it and goes into attack mode. When walking in the sea, to avoid scaring any stingray, try to shuffle the sand as you walk =D
They are really cute! One of it has got the sting stuck in the net and therefore was removed. Stingray will lose its sting after using it and will only grow back after a year. Therefore it won't simply use it really!
octopus that resemble a human face!
touching area
gwa gwa
finally, the very elegant penguins!!
That's all @ Melbourne Aquarium! Looking forward the the end of year holiday already =DDD
Went to Canberra to renew my MALAYSIAN passport. Yes! I need to go allthe way to Canberra - imagine how troublesome it is (esp for Malaysiansin Perth!). To make it worse, Tiger canceled the flight (I'll takeQantas even for domestic from now on, coz their creamy chicken mayo onrockets sandwich is too awesome) so I had to pay 265 for the lateminute fares to go with Qantas (Tiger only compensates 120 and theservice at the counter where they inform bout the cancel is seriouslyas bad as you can imagine).
Good news is, the passport renewprocess was as smooth as it can be =D and I went around a bit withanother Malaysian to the old parliament house and the national gallery:
Old parliament - ***** strongly recommended =D
Thecabinet meeting room, where we were shown a presentation bout themigration issues after the 2nd world war. Very interesting, must notmiss =D
lunch at the parliament cafe
battered chicken liver with mushroom sauce =D

BTW, I took a really sweet picture of Amy and Ralph in melb:
and visited a power station in the Latrobe Valley, one of the biggest mine/power station in victoria =D
some info: Power Generation Information
Electricity generation at Loy Yang Power requires 60,000 tonnes of brown coal a day, supplied exclusively by Loy Yang mine.
The coal is transported by conveyor to the power station where it is dried, pulverised and blown into the boiler for combustion.
The
boiler consists of a labyrinth of tubes where water is heated and
converted to high pressure steam by boiler furnace temperatures of up
to 1,300°C.The steam at temperatures of 540°C and pressure of 160 times
atmosphere pressure turns the blades of the turbines, the driving force
for the generator.
The four turbo-generators at Loy Yang Power
each have a capacity of more than 500 megawatts of electricity, Unit
One being the largest at 560MW. One megawatt equals one million watts -
enough to power around 1,000 homes.
Was soooo hot on friday - I think it's 35deg. Surely not as bad as the one when I first got back to Melb - 47deg, simply intolerable. Kudos to the air-con in uni ^^. Even kangaroos go to the beach lol.
Neway, it's kinda cold today. Not freezing but I still have to wear my ueber thick socks at home. Again, got really bored with editing C8 (no I haven't got C5-7 completed but I decided to work on every chapters simultaneously lol). Saw the pictures of Wilson Prom after/during the fire. Gosh where are the greens??
Thought I would post up some of the pre-heatwave pictures of Wilson Prom. Had been wanting to visit this national park for ages. Fortunately the guys proposed to visit during last christmas break or else we'll surely regret...
(not much time for details so it's just gonna be a picture dump again xp) Went to the proms for four days and these are the pics taken on day two: Yanakie - The main road near where we stayed
walked 635903482938495034 steps up the mountain. ok. i m exaggerating, but it was bloody exhausting + the crazy intense heat just drives you crazy. though totally worth it =p.
yes. sunscreen is important. say no to skin cancer lol.

I m cutting down on my fats consumption =p) 4. add in spring onions (or chives if you have), salt and pepper to taste voila! no la no pictures. how can one resist not eating this mouth-watering dish the moment it is served?
Gonna have to see boss tomorrow and have been writing for ages. So decided to chotto curi rest and blog abit. I'm so much into Olivia Ong now all thanks to Xuanxuan - don't know? utube her.
